When I look at your actual code, you expect that the UserSettings.Instance.ColumnConfiguration is never null. So please remove the settings from your profile and try to run the application again. You will get a NullReferenceException.

Just to let you know. There is more than just one place where you will get the NullReferenceException
* Constructor of LogMessageItem
* MainForm.ApplySettings
MainForm.AddLogMessage(LogMessage logMsg) catches all the exceptions. I don't think that this is a good idea. Your tests will never fail. I would be nice to see the Exception in Console.Write or in the log window or in ShowBalloonTip so that we know that Log2Console failed somehow and we can report it to you. A small report window would be the best choice :-)
